Listening to Music when Playing Chess.

Hello Friends

I always listen to streaming music on the Internet everytime I play online chess.  I listen to instrumental music without vocals as I find this music to be very calming and easy on the ears. Personally, I listen to the classical stations which has a station for every composer you can think off. I also enjoy "spa" stations or "meditation" stations that play music with the sounds of nature like the ocean in the background. I am sure many of the GMs on this site are so focused they would find music a distraction.  I find it just the opposite and find myself playing many more games than intended and that relaxing music puts my mind in a very relaxed, yet focused state of mind.  Just wondering how many players listen to music while playing online chess.  There are many Free music websites but I happen to like Pandora.com because they have very few advertisements and almost evertime I am on the site, if you watch a 25 second video from a paid advertiser, they give you 4 hours of uninteruppted music. They have every genre of music you can think off. I am sure that many players on this site who start streaming music, will find the  wonderful game off chess a bit more enjoyable and start playing more games.  And for you brave souls, they also have MegaDeath & Metallica stations. I happen to like metal, but not when playing chess. I would love to hear feedback from players who listen to music and for those of you who never tried streaming music, how it impacts your chess game. I could never play a game a chess again without music. But then again, I am not a International Grand Master.

Very cool.  I am a fan of every band you guys just listed.  I play guitar so you know I love Gilmor from Pink Floyd.   AC/DC has is my favorite hard rock band of all time. Angus is my hero!!  I used to listen to AC/DC when in the gym. You are right about the Endorphins!!.   But for chess, I am more into Achja's coice of music which is Vivlaldi. 

Are you guys streaming music?   If not, check out Pandora.com. It's free and they have a Vivaldi station, Floyd & AC/DC

 I am going to listen to the AC/DC station and see how that impacts my game.  I will chime back in shortly.

even i listen to music but i just use youtube

Music is great, but when I listen to music, I always end up forgetting about my ongoing game and instead I end up deeply concentrating on the music!
