Why all the hate?

geojem_63

Here's how I beat a player rated over 200 points higher than me who used the London against me in an OTB tourney last weekend, but it really didn't have so much to do with the opening, but just a middlegame blunder.

Diakonia

London Rocks!

No hate it's just the honest truth. I don't see what people get out of playing this. It requires no thought so how is this playing chess ? Regardless of what their opponent plays they're going to play this move that's all they need to know.

No, it's not "truth", it's your opinion.  And on that note, go tell it to Gata Kamsky, among others

Clark_757
It's a fact that they're playing a set move order no matter what happens. It's like I'm playing a robot. Sorry but it's truth.

London system players must live a very sad life. Seriously, they have no ambition

Opinion.  And who cares if they play a set move order, it's their perogative.  Sounds like sour grapes to me.

E4 players have to know a lot more. We can get hit with Caro kann, Sicilian, Scandinavian etc. so our move orders vary and there are many ways of going about handling this stuff unlike these lazy system players

I'm an e4 player but maybe these "lazy system players" are smarter than us.

Clark is right. You're stupid. However, every player should try this opening out for them selves; since they can't evade it with black.

Clark_757
I didn't make this post to argue about what's fact and opinion. Simply putting it out there that the London system is fixed and there's no strategy involved. No creativity, no originality. End of discussion

[Edited for language - Mod.]  I don't care if my account gets deleted, I have more important things to do, like memorizing WC games and adding to my OTB rating rise of nearly 50 points this month.

Whatever makes you feel better about your low life skills joking a new player that's looking for fun (not long repetitive set games) based on their chess rating. Mr carlsoon

Id rather not view a game that I've already seen a million times played by millions of people already
Diakonia

The opening serves one purpose, to get to a playable middlegame.

L. Portisch.

How you get there is up to you.

I bet you don't want to see it again!

It must bring back alot of painful memories of you getting spanked!

I guess some of us don't have time to see who has learned the most theory on the latest Sicilian, Berlin, or KID lines and just want to hit a comfortable middle game with chances for both sides and play chess. The notion that using an opening system means you are lazy and unoriginal is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. If you don't like facing the London opening, adjust your move order to force the game into different lines. Or better, learn to beat it. But that might actually require being original and creative now wouldn't it.

Candidate35 you don't have to explain yourself to these chess hacks who are ranked 1,100!

It is not your fault that they can't cut it playing a real man's line!

People who hate on the London System are players who have No creativity, No originality, and No positional awareness.

As soon as you stop moving your queen out to attack them. They become confused and don't know what to do.

It is completely obvious the London System is full of life and synergy!
