I will end this debate right here. Why does loneliness have to have a negative connotation? Why do you have to validate yourself to an anonymous person? Why does superficiality trump profundity?  One can be a lone and be self-fulfilled, conversely one can have everything possible and still be lonely. Humanity is a perpetual journey to fill a need, however the opacity between need and want has become blurred. Thus, we search for the wrong thing all our life. Never confuse a large quantity with redundancy, for each human (irrespective of the billions that currently live now, the billions that lived in the past and the billions that will live in the future) has their own purpose in life, find yours. Being alone helps one find that purpose through introspection. Don't let society dictate how you are suppose to live your life.

How can "opacity" (state of being impossible to see through) become "blurred"?

Lonely people get married and have kids.  Then after a while they wish they had time alone.

You sound like you believe in karma.  That's life if you want it that way.

So your attitude about lonely people was prompted by a samskara?

When you get older, chess clubs get depressing.

Too many bums and Commies, people who whine and cry without ever trying anything.

What a total waste of human potential and oceans and oceans of utterly wasted time.

rumrunner55

Karma? Hahahahahaha.

You're pretty depressing with your whining and crying without saying anything. And it's kind of a waste of time reading your post.

Stupid bums and commies - always ruining America with their immigrant liberaling -- and what about Benghazi!?!!??!?!

Wolfbird

"America with their immigrant liberaling..." Haha, what do you think America is but a country of immigrants?! What's your heritage? You're not native to America are you? Or are you being facetious?

null-cipher

rumrunner55, I'm sure no one will complain if you stopped showing up at the chess club.  You are invited to stay home and play online only with similarly minded jingoist wing-nuts in between checking Fox News and The Blaze for your latest outrage.

AlisonHart

I'm being very facetious - there's a little bit of Cherokee blood in here.....but I think there's a little bit of Cherokee in most people from the midwest.

Honestly, I'm surprised that you would think a self-avowed radical feminist culture geek like me would have any problem with immigrants...hay mucho por todos aqui y no necesitamos aborrecer unos y otros. Somos todas humanas.

Wolfbird

Sorry, Alison. I won't doubt you again. Smile

I find it funny that the gun toting, Bible thumping conservatives in the deep South are usually more likely than folks in any other region of the country to possess some degree of Native American admixture.

They also see more UFOs than anybody else. Very odd...

From an anthropological point if view, there are no "native" (indigenous) north or south Americans.  We are all aborigines.  Our ancestors all came here from other places, even if it was by way of the Bering crossing.

Some walked, some took a boat, some flew.  Just the mode of transpotation varied
