yeah and sometimes castling is bad. your king will be closed and will have only 1 square that he can move, and the queen/bishop and rook with help of bishop or rook/queen(s), can give checkmate

I suck at chess not going to lie, But I am trying to get better. I feel you are giving false information here. If you prefer not to castle than good for you. But you cant tell me its best not to castle with a 700 score when computers and grand masters tell you it is. I think id rather take their advice and if you want to improve I suggest you do the same.

If the other side is safe, always castle on the other side of the opponents so that you can attack. If the king has moved, short castle.
