I am a long time chess lover and player but new to online chess. I would consider myself an intermediate player over the board and so far I am mostly enjoying my time here on chess.com
Unfortunately, I seem to be running in to lots of what I believe are cheaters. I am 850 elo currently and it seems like every 3rd or 4 game I am playing someone who is blitzing out moves with over 80 and sometimes 90% accuracy.
I have recently come across lots of videos on Youtube talking about how rampant cheating is on this website.
I just played a rapid game and my opponent who was 850 elo played 10 moves in under 90 seconds with 96% accuracy leaving me dead lost. My analysis was 0/0/0 but with 80% accuracy.
I reported them naturally, but my question is, why does this website not take cheating seriously? I just don't understand it. I see new accounts that have 90% win rates and I don't know how that is allowed to happen.
It's quite frustrating and I certainly hope chess.com is working on solutions to prevent this.
the game your referring to seems legitimate to me. You opponent played the caro, which has simple development and is super easy to get 97-98 accuracy with just bringing your pieces out normally. With the opening being simple, this would explain the blitzing out moves. As for the rest of the game, he took a free pawn and then found a very simple fork
The thing about this is that the mods will probably lock this forum soon and post the same message saying that they have cracked down on cheating even tho there’s been a lot of reports here on the forums
I don’t think you are understanding how accuracy works. Please don’t be like Kramnik, it’s easy to get high accuracy when your opponent plays bad moves. Cheating on this site is WAY less than people think. You’re playing too quickly, please don’t blame others. Chess is a game where you need to take full responsibility for your play, you lost because of you, not because of your opponent.
