Why do you NEED a female companion to compete with you?

It's mixed doubles. One female, one male per team. Milliern is a male, so he requires a female partner to compete in the mixed doubles section

Good luck on getting ANY female partner to team up with you, let alone one who may be underrated.

Back in March of this year, over at the USCF website, I posted an open letter to all TDs asking them to eliminate or change the mixed-doubles format.

Basically, I wanted to see a doubles-format so that any two players could team up together and compete for a double prize.  Either that or the concept eliminated completely and thus those prizes added back into the general prize fund.

My reason was because myself and 90% of all of the OTHER male players who play, are unable to participate in this additional prize... simply because of the 9 to 1 ratio of males to females that exist at most all tournaments.  We simply can't find a female partner.  They are already taken.

And yet a portion of my entry fee goes towards this prize.  I didn't think that was right... and I still don't.

The thread generated more than 70 replies.  You should be able to read it here.

I think they do this as another way to encourage more female participation .  I hope they wont discontinue it before my wife and I have a chance to participate for a mixed doubles prize .

They do that at the Atlantic Open and Philadelphia Open also. I like CCA tournaments for the most part.
