Loosing streak

Hello fellow chess players. In last weeks a have a bit of a problem. I mostly play rapid and blitz games online mostly elsewhere but sometimes also here on chess.com. My rating was growing nicely and I hit my new record (1850 over there). after this, for myself huge achievement, I decided to play blitz and I did so for about a week and also nicely improved my rating. I was feeling on top of the world and was really proud of my self. After that I switched back to rapid (10+0) and lost more than 150 rating points. I don't know what is going on with me but I hang pieces all the time, miss simple tactics and feel like I have nothing under control when I play. I tried to take a break from chess for two or so days as some people suggest in different forum posts about similar problems but the break didn't help much. I will play in OTB tournament in 2 days and im scared I will lose terribly. Do you have any tips that could help me and other people with similar problems? Thanks.

You know what all these statements have in common?  It shows self doubt.  There is nothing anybody can do tip wise to get you past this.  Just realize that its a game, and your getting emotional over online ratings?  Do you really think that since your rating dropped 150 points, that you suddenly know 150 points less about chess?  You are the same player you were before the rating drop.  You're human, and if you're going to feel "on top of the world" when things are going well, then you need to be prepared when things don't.

The best tip i can give you is to learn to somehow grow past the over importance of an online rating that so many place on it.  Its an online rating.  It doesnt define who you are as a person.  And honestly....no one cares what youre online rating is.
