This happens for almost everyone. its demoralizing to be stuck on a losing streak and feel like you are in a helpless situation. but reality is that it's just a phase. On another day, the reserve will happen where you go on a massive win streak and come back to where you were with rating. if you truly are better than your current rating, then you will definitely be rising up as long as you don't wear yourself out mentally because of the losing frustration. Take a break for a few hours or a day, and come back with a new start and see the different
LOSING A LOT! What should I do?

Woah, it might be something about life, but usually people go through these times. They lose a LOT and then recover with a higher rating! Don't feel bad, happened to me for a loooooong time
Don't give up on chess :)
It's normal. Few weeks ago I hit my highest blitz rating, then in two days I lost close to 200 points. Took a day or two off, did some tactics and then went on a tear and now I'm above 1400 again. Now I try to limit myself to 3-5 games then take a break. When I do this I usually win more than I lose so I'm going to keep doing it. I'm not going below 1300 again.
Losing is normal.
Tips
1. Find and adress the reason why you are losing a lot.
2. Improve your tactics, endgames and strategt by studying chess from books or videos.
3. Eat brain foods.
4. Don't play with a full stomach.

If you can't stop playing for some days, take a book (if you have) talking about chess, and calmly read it, rest (1-2-3 days), open your mind, and later i will said you that you have to play without giving importance to your ELO. This will start rising. This happened to me and I know a guy that have the exactly problem. He dragged down like 300 points. He was very frustrated, and he doesnt rest. He stoped playing like for 2 months because of his frustration. Now he plays but less than in the past. Enjoy chess!

From my experience, when I go down on a losing streak it's mainly because of 3 aspects, poor time management, playing to passively/innacurately and thinking too negatively. It may be different for everyone but the best advice I can give you is to step back and ask yourself what it is you're doing which is causing you to lose so many games and don't get disheartened if you still lose a few games after that as it may take a few practice runs before getting back into the swing of things. You're playing other people at the end of the day, don't forget, so they're just as vulnerable and susceptible to blunders as you are which is another good thing not to forget in order to boost your confidence back up. It's no surprise that chess resembles life in many ways, right? Take all these things into consideration and you'll no doubt feel greater overal improvement and far swifter recuperation from such events. Best of luck!
It happened to me too, many times. As far, I've kept improving my game and scores with periods of drawbacks. In my particular case it was fatigue and lost of focus. So after some rest ( just a few days) and reassessing of some parts of the game ( mainly middle game and opening, since I felt that the lack of plannification and and awareness was responsible of my bad play) I came back and even got better results. So that's my advice. Rest and study!

Ha, know the feeling (I'm a beginner though). Just became a dad (child no. 2) and play lots of blitz in those dead of the night moments. MAN, I am losing like mad, terrible blunders etc. But, so what? Then I started losing in standard too, and that's a rating I care about. So, no more standard for me until I get some sleep.
Keep doing tactics too, and really want to take a total break from playing but I'm hooked!

You're just bad, quit now while you can
I like the way you make others feel bad...
Just don't.

Lately, I've been losing chess games. At around 1420 it dragged down to 1250 something. I've become frustrated and clueless of what to do next. I've been playing every single day. Should I rest? I've also noticed I feed my pieces for free without knowing it. It doesn't happen to me before. What is wrong with me?! Help!
Probably, you are going insane.
