Losing Blitz/Bullet Games on Time EVERY TIME on Chess.com 😩 - Mobile Killing Me or Switch to PC/Lap

Hey everyone,

I’m at my wit’s end. Most of my losses come down to time control—especially in blitz (3|0, 5|0) and bullet. I can calculate decent moves and spot tactics, but then the flag falls even when I’m up material or in a winning position. It’s super frustrating!

I usually play on mobile (Android app), but the touch lag, glitchy premoves, and tiny board make me miss things quickly. Does switching to a laptop or computer make a big difference? With a mouse for instant drags, a bigger screen, and no battery drain mid-game, it feels like it should. I’ve even heard people gain 200+ Elo after switching—is that true?

Yes playing chess with a mouse makes a huge difference.

It seems that you always play with a mouse, is that right?

Website has more good features as compared to app

What is your phone's exact modell? Because the Android app is really good in premoves and speed

I see that you take entire seconds on easy moves while you have less than 20 seconds.

You should try playing with increment like 3+2

So you are playing on a phone? It‘s indeed difficult to play on a small screen, so you might switch to anythig bigger. It doesn’t have to be a Pc or a Laptop.

Stop playing blitz/ bullet if you lose on time.

#8 you are right but it also highly depends on the model of the phone. I play on an iPad Pro M2 12,9" (of course on the website), and I don't lose on time frequently.

Yes I play on desktop with a mouse

Playing at the website using an iPad Pro works best for me. Tapping is more precise than a mouse or dragging pieces. But, I have found that sound is very, very helpful. Without sound I struggle knowing when it is my move.

#13 I see this works for a lot of people. Mouse is the fastest but touchscreen is more intuitive.
