iam a old guy and no time left or at least not much time left for trolling what ever that is ?? i just play very bad chess and can't seem to get a hold of a winning formula to move up and out of the basement so be assured iam no troll what ever they do or why they do it is beyond me

magipi

The winning formula at the 100-200 level is obvious. Don't play random moves. Try to think. Try to notice when your queen is attacked.

Here is another example:

accusing a beginner player of trolling just because he hung some pieces?

Magipi, yes he is trolling, please follow this motto I made up:

RIG-Report,Ignore,Get others to do the same

Just ignore him. You are wasting your time arguing with him.

What are you talking about? It's a senior guy trying to learn chess and documenting it here.

it ok------ slam me all you want -----i have tough skin even for a old guy taking massive amounts of blood thinners and other drugs --

i just don't really know what a troll is some Bose to be - thinking its a bad thing right ? oh well just to his own thoughts

tonight played better or just got lucky i guess more wins than losses first time in a while so out of the basement anyways tired slower opening and played a little slower when i thought i was beaten i waited and looked for an out for one min then if none i resigned but not before so that helped i think will try a few tonight before meds kick in see what happens

I doubt it, he is spent too much time for this to be just a troll

Sometime trollers are persistent and consistent.

HangingPiecesChomper

1600s on this site still bullying low rated players?

AlekhineEnthusiast46

Yep, as long as they keep trolling, yes.

Personally, I would recommend playing longer time controls and really thinking about what you will play, what that move does, what will the opponent play and does my opponent have any threats. If you could, I would recommend buying a chess book, preferably one of Jeremy Silman's (I love his work!) but any book will do. Also you should learn a few good openings, to get started. Remember, if you cannot access a chess book, you can always use free resources online and get help from others! happy.png

wed morning things went a little better i think -- or just maybe i played alot of really bad players kind of a toss up on that one but i got to 150 -- first time in months that high -- so will con't on with this plan to see how far i can go before a streak of losses in a row

HangingPiecesChomper

look at your opponents last move. is it attacking one of your hanging pieces? move it. did your opponent hang a piece? chomp on it.

Finally some good advice

AlekhineEnthusiast46

Yeah, like Hanging said, blunder check more making a move.

LOSTATCHESS

it seems that most moves my opponent makes are attacking one of my pieces so thats a even --its the options parts of fleeing that i always get into trouble with this wed afternoon won a couple lost a couple so no improvement- starting to think luck has a major part in winning or losing as i play some players who miss my blunders and let me survive and others who chomp om pieces one after another these are players who are all about the same rating - so playing a rating 130 player one min is disaster for me -- the next min. the player of same rating is a fool-- i play about the same against each so its a 50/50 chance i will win or lose based on my opponent not on me --- that's strange thinking i know-- but its creeping into my head as i play -one more game before supper getting Chinese food tonight i am excited its been a year since last time i had any - i get what i want on my birthday supper with family coming to visit

We often don't feel the difference in our own play even tho objectively performance grows. The differences are small. One session you just have better focus than in the next one.

The exact same thing you notice in your opponents play - either they take a free piece or don't - it applies to you. So don't leave pieces hanging and take what you can get. One move at a time.

LOSTATCHESS

hind sight is really great in this game -- it all about what you should done rather than what you did

tonight played badly lost ground for sure -- time to stop and let my meds kick in i guess-- god i hate this game
