B's I don't believe somebody could be 100 rating, that's like me being in a coma playing
losing games to my own bad play
that is correct -i am sure there is something i could better than you -- not many things iam afraid iam a low talent kind of old guy ---- its just chess is not one of them thats for sure
looks like i will be under 400 very soon well as we speak - so now at 398 iam in getting to the nittyf and gritty of it
after this weekend - i have decided when i get down to 100 in the 24 hour games that it's for me for chess -- no use playing as much as i do at something i am clearly, no good or have a skill for the game -- the two to four hours daily i put in on chess games watching videos etc -- just seems like a waste of time and time is something that i have less than than more of -- when i get help here from others i greatly appreciate it and for a while it seems to help -- but that's fools gold i believe- thinking i am getting better and actually getting better are two different things- maybe its the meds kicking in, they are a different kind than before i don't know but maybe just a break from it will help -- so when i get to 100 in the 24 hour games i will break - tried looking a local chess club but to no avail- their are indian guys a plenty at the university that teach one on one for a fee understnadable they have earn under the table to stay here -- but no classes at the university even at the community collage for adults, they the ymca has them for kids only -- which i find really dissapointing, good for them ,bad for older retired people -
so i will continue to slug along here day after day till the score gets to 100 presently iam at 398 so i have a little wiggle room left yet -- would be nice to win just one game 24 hour outright
Hey man, check out your local libraries. I know here in St Catharines our library run a casual chess "club" once a week which is where I play OTB
And I may be wrong but I think this obsession with Elo is a relatively new phenomenon probably dating back to the online chess explosion. Prior to that if you'd asked a casual chess player (which I certainly am) about Elo they'd have thought you were asking about a '70's rock band!! Try playing unrated games, take the pressure off and just have fun.

Why are you taking this so seriously? Just enjoy playing the game and do your best. None of us on here are going to become grandmasters. I enjoy the game and am trying to improve but am still losing far more than I win but. It's like everything else, practice practice and you will get better

See it like this, that you can always learn out your failures and then do it better in the next game
your are correct to think i take this toooooo seriously thats been the problem ever since i started this vovage - but my makeup is such that i was tired of always losing at everything i did and now as the light is starting to fade i thought i would give this a crack, as in my youth i always wanted to play this game but no body to teach me -- so little time off might make me clear my head as to why i do so poorly in this endeviour -- but i will wait till i get to 100 in the 24 hour games before putting the board away ,so to speak. thanks for the input always aprreicated
Btw, try playing rapid chess (10 minute) instead of blitz (3 minute). Rapid will give you time to think, blitz is too fast even for some higher level players.
