Players should not "lose" game when connection online is broken and won't reconnect, this is an unfair penalty and  score should be fixed.

Disagree.  Players disconnect when losing.   Rude.

Lately I have been loosing connection a lot. It says maintenance is being performed please sign on again later. I have had this happen to me twice in the middle of a 30 min game.

Does anyone know why this is happenng so much lately?

How is the person you disconnected against to be compensated? Its not their fault you chose to play on a shoddy internet connection, and simply giving them rating points and you a -0 will lead to massive rating inflations.
