Lots of New Members, Why go Premium?

I am one of the players that uses a program to cheat and I think that you should just get over it.
So you just admit it like that? So straightforwardly?

The benefits as a premium membership far out ways the chance you may play against a chess cheater. I have played against two cheaters and lost both games, then later they eventually got caught and canned. It did not take anything a way from premium membership, and its just great not putting up with those advertisement distractors, not to forget to mention all the training available. If you come here strictly to play and not get any training help them non membership may be just right for? Many are very happy and have been here forever and have not considered premium, but the fact that you asked this question, your other side is thinking about it?

With your ratings, if you are cheating, you aren't doing a very good job of it.

i pay so i don't have to deal with ads.. thats it. about cheating.. i don't.. how boaring that would be..getting a machine to do ya thinking for ya. i would stop playing, if all i did was click on a button to find out what move to make.

Yes, I have considered it a couple of times before. However, I can get the same competition with a bought program if all I'm going to do are play against other people who use programs to play for them or help them find the moves to win. In any case, why would I pay here when I can get a program and play against that with similar results and there's no wondering which I am playing, human or machine; I would know from the start that I am playing a machine. I don't have any delusions about being able to beat a machine nor have I stated that I could beat a machine at any point in time; I don't understand what point people are trying to make by using machines to play for them. Maybe they're not trying to make any point as it would be hard to believe someone that does not have the capacity to understand what they are doing to have a point.
People that are apathetic about a situation are usually just as bad/guilty as those perpetrating the situation. I am by no means suggesting that chess is as serious a life but to make this point, I suggest you look at WWII, where people with power to stop events, but were apathetic to the situation, did nothing. Chess is nowhere near as grave or important as what happened but if you look for it, the similarities are there. It begins with apathy. Only when people decided that apathy was not an option any longer did the world band together to defeat Hitler. Again, I am not saying chess is as serious as war or the lives lost fighting it; that's not my point...my point has to do with apathy being as bad or nearly as bad as the for lack of better word, crime. If you are capable of creating a difference, you don't just stand by and decide that you can "live" with it, do something.

YouTube - unlimited access to great video library
Chess programs can do the same - unlimited computer analysis of your games
Chess programs can do the same and Chess.emrald.net - unlimited tactics trainer
Chess programs can do the same - unlimited chess mentor
Chessgames.com - unlimited game explorer and database
I'm also sure there's plenty more other sites for these things and are free.

how do you expect the chess.com to run it without money ? also who gonna pay to all those titled players for thier articles/videos etc. ?

chess programs don't do human analysis / explain reasons for moves and mistakes as in the chess mentor. it was most useful.
the chess videos here are far better than those on youtube. on utube u can find the occasional video, from corus or gibraltrar where a gm is analyzing a game, and that's fantastic. but overall there is no comparison. i especially like melik's videos. he explains things very well.
and the tactics trainer is very good. chess.emrald is very good too, but i prefer the tactics here.
plus chesstv, i've yet to see much similar. playchess/icc do shows occasionally i suppose.
and i like the articles. i always like instructive annotated games.
i don't/won't play much online anymore, but i think it is well-run. i play unpleasant opponents infrequently and they are simple to block. the live chess could use some improvements still, but it is getting better. bughouse and chess960 would be excellent additions to the live chess, especially the former. the server here saves all user games, that's very nice.

Well stated Matthew, I think she is being contentious for sake of not wanting to purchase an upgrade in membership, and trying to justify to herself, which is OK, but not good info for others to read = false, and you corrected that But with that said she appears to been a strong chess player and sees thing logically and makes sense to her. "How did I get involved in this, maybe because of her sincerity to this matter.

Does chess.com really believe that they get 4000 "New" member every 24 hours? Or do they actually realize that most of those so called new members are actually people that more than likely have been banned creating new accounts to continue their wonderful ways that got them banned in the first place.
It's getting a little ridiculous how a "New" member, joining the same day, meaning they just created an account, able to join in live tournaments and somehow, someway win 1st price. That is incredible how so many great chess players just happen to join everyday and win every game they play, seemingly for the first time; I know some will argue how do I know that's their first game ever, maybe they've been playing their entire life. Keep believing that if you want to; only someone without any real intelligence would believe all these great players happen to find chess.com everyday.
I am not a paying member, but why would I even consider paying when I have to deal with people using programs against me when that is not what I'm paying for. I can go to the store and buy a very good chess program if that is what I really want. This is unfortunate because I will not consider becoming a member due to this fact.
