Low Elo Ratings

Why is my elo rating so low? I am in champion league, but for some reason my elo stays at 300. I win most of my games, and i usually get top 3 or even first place in the leagues, I don't understand why my rating is 300. I asked ChatGPT, it said average champion league rating is 1650. Problem is I'm 1300 elo ratings lower, yet I beat higher ratings such as 1700s. Anyone here to address the confusion?

Leagues have nothing to do with playing strength and more to do with how much you play

Yes, but a champion league player cannot be stuck at an elo of 300. It just doesn't seem right.

I’m sorry, but Martin_Stahl is right. Your league is unimportant to skill level. I can see some of your games and the engine often ranks you with a 100 elo.

You may win your games, but this happens(haven’t checked) when you play at higher level to the opponent and so isn’t related to your league. A higher elo opponent will probably always beat you, the league trophies only take into account wins not the elo you get the wins at.

You seem quite proud of being in champion league(you put it as your bio) which is good because it shows confidence.

Anyone can play better by learning the game, and this takes time and effort

You can because 1650+ elo, but the way everyone else does it through time and learning(not an insult)

👍🫵

Yeah, it's possible and happens a lot. You just have to play a lot of games and have enough wins and draws to get more trophies than other players in your division.

Some divisions will have really inactive players, so moving up is easier.

When did chess.com even add leagues, I didn’t notice they were a thing until just now😂

There started in December of 2021.

Ah, I understand now, league doesn't refer to your skill and elo ranking is based on wins, not the people you win against.

Leagues had some value while there was the Chess.com Legends Club

Is that club disbanded? My god!

This February, I guess. Now leagues are just badges in players' profiles

If you're regularly beating 1700+ players, your Elo will catch up eventually — just stay consistent and try not to tilt or go on long losing streaks.
