PATRIOT is simply incorrect that strong chess players have a lower than average IQ.

For the record, @lfPatriotGames is "simply incorrect" about most things.

I believe GMs and other strong chess players have above average IQ. How about EQ? Anyone have idea about EQ of GMs and World Champions?

Hey there Llama47! What's your go-to chess set if you could play a game anywhere in the world? On a side note since I rushed the whole forum. What's your take on passing your peak ELO? I don't like to think about my rating because it is just a number but I do feel a sense of accomplishment since over the year I've excelled about 500+ just in the year?!  but that was just getting myself out to about 1240 area. How do I stay on top of what I am learning? New Chess or Old Chess?

@llama47

Your diagram has a pawn on the 1st rank.

I'm currently drunk i.e. not feeling too generous.

Post something sensible and I might not barf in your general direction.

Lots of laughs tongue.png   are there some psychological reasons why there is so much interest in the  relationship between chess and IQ? [think about it?]

I know one trait that some top players have that has not even been mentioned on this forum,!!!

llama47   You are a fairly good player but hopefully this will teach you to be a little more open minded? I have had many challenges over the years and have won every one of them This includes beating a 2100 rated player 4 games out of 4 and  beating a 2400 rated player in a challenge game here on chess.com and also won  from  a GM here on chess.com where I played only Black and challenged several strong players.[and did very well]

My record vs current GMs is 4 wins and no losses or draws.

In 1973 I fulfilled the requirements to be a NM [USCF]  After that I switched to correspondence chess where I have set 3 United States records which will never be beaten or tied.

Because of my age [age 80 this month] I will not accept your offer.

However while I once played at the GM level--I still play a little lower than that. My current play is vote chess--We are a select team which only plays other very strong teams  Our record is 61 wins  no losses and 1 draw.  Ask any of my team mates how well or poor I still play?  A few years ago A GM posted 2 positions where the very best chess computers could not find the best continuations. Those on chess.com also did not find. I found the best play for both in  about 16 minutes;  I may post one of the positions?

17 years ago a doctor diagnosed me with Alzheimer's. The doctor took my wife and I into his office and informed us in  one year I would be in a nursing home-out of my mind and in  2 years. I would probably be dead.

2 days later my wife filed for divorce and asked for the 2 kids. shock.png

I'm very sorry to hear that sad.png

ha ha and to continue--a few days after that a policeman came to my door and told me to leave my home.  I had knee problem and due for surgery and could barely move.  Not to worry-far worse things happen and it is in  the past.

for anyone who still has questions ---the diagnosis of Alzheimers  was a misdiagnosis--I had depression with similar symptoms---a 5 minute test would have shown I did not have Alzheimers.
