The person who currently plays the game best, Magnus Carlsen, unequivocally states the game of chess...as we play it...is full of luck. You can find several YT videos of him saying precisely that. And that is the same opinion held by nearly all GMs. We, as humans, are only capable of playing human chess. And that low-level of play is a flawed endeavor...even when you're the best in the world. On Lichess, they have incorporated into their Insights analysis a Luck statistic. Why? Because it's an integral part of human chess. You can find plenty of articles (and large PDFs) online that clearly prove the point (in excruciating detail). The only people who rail against this are those that believe Engine chess is something we totally can pull off. It's not. That's it's own kind of chess. Then there are those who believe chess to be a pure intellectual pursuit of the highest order. And if luck is allowed to be folded into that milieu, then it's more than a bit problematic. That's wrong on so many levels it too requires a lengthy PDF to disabuse those so inclined.
luck and chess
Luck can manifest in all shapes and sizes and the definition itself could be ambiguous. It really depends on a person's perspective on how he chooses the variables involved even though there is exist a hidden variable on things that he is perceiving. Even though it is hard to find all possible events, we as a species thrived because we are persistent on existing by means of battling against uncertainties. But even though no matter how hard we do our best, there is always a card on it's sleeves. Anyway, what is the joy of playing chess if you solved it already. Unless, you are trolling everyone or anything that is beyond any purpose.
In chess, luck typically plays a minimal role, especially at the higher levels of play. The game is based on skill, strategy and calculation, where players have complete control over their moves.
I am not an expert but I assumed that the luck involved in GM's games during classical chess is just 16% the rest are just pure skill.
I am not an expert but I had computed how much luck is involve in classical chess based on their FIDE elo.
0 Elo - 100% Luck
400 Elo - 95% Luck
800 Elo - 82% Luck
1200 Elo - 65% Luck
1600 Elo - 46% Luck
2000 Elo - 29% Luck
2400 Elo - 16% Luck
2800 Elo - 8% Luck
Take this with grain of salt because I assure you that all of these computations are only an extrapolation.
Yeah There is no kind of like luck. Skill is just like luck
Like If u Blundered a Mate in 1 ,If they dont see it Then its not luck Its just skill.
It depends on Time Pressure or ur opponents Bad rating.
