If a player doesn't make their first move within 20(?) seconds the game is aborted.  Sometimes it might be connection problems, but it happens to me far to often for this to be the only reason.  I don't know why they start a game they don't intend to play.

When losing, some players let their time run out.  This is simply rude.  One time in a 15|10 game I had two pawns and a king vs my opponents lone king.  My opponent had around ten minutes and let it run down to one second.  Because of the increment they got ten more seconds.  I moved and guess what?  They let their time go to one second and then did it over and over again until checkmate.

One thing you can do is to keep a book handy for when people let their time run out - be sure to keep the volume up so you know if they move though!

So anyway, it's not anything to do with you, it's just bad sports.

And some people abort if they don't get white . . . they might have  a tricky opening they want to play, so they leave if they get black. And as the ratings get higher, your opponents will be more respectful concerning time-outs (or so I've found).

But the thing is when they abort it is noted and they may have their account restricted. it is a very risky strategy
