Magnus Carlsen cheater?

My thoughts: trolling isn't worth the effort of typing so much.

*Yawn.*

I looked through your profile, you earlier wondered why chess players don't have beards. Talk about nonsense

If you thought about it, then trust me large organizations especially like FIDE definitely thought about that already

The point is to be as discreet as possible. I also heard a story about Kramnik going to the bathroom all the time during a WCC. He got away with it.

That's a genuinely interesting question, though.

OK, I'll admit I shouldn't have used that particular one as my example. In hindsight it's a very interesting question. But please, respect the forum, and let others ask what they wish. If the chess moderators of chess.com see this as a controversial topic I'm sure they will take it down.

maybe magnus carlsen underperformed in olympics because there were a lot of anti cheating measures there
Is this for real? Do they have chess in the olympics? I thought the olympics were only for real sports. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I think everyone knows what I mean.

Alex, I'm tired of having to google stuff in order to respond to you. What the heck is a volatile thread?

Im sure as well.
But please do post in the off topic forums.

That would be inappropriate because I'm having a general chess discussion. Thank you for your input though.

That would be appropriate because you're wondering if the top players are cheating.
Which is simply trolling, in any sense.

If you said the same about olympic sprinters would it be "trolling" then. How about MLB players. Don't be naive, cheating happens at top levels of sports. This should be seen as a serious discussion. Please don't post your cynicism towards me here, it may discourage serious commentators from sharing their thoughts.

I say this is a good non-trolling question. I remember a Chinese gambling show (the Macau series, what was it called again) where a player had some implant in his finger that allowed him to feel the bottom of a card and transmit electrical signals to his brain that showed him what card it was without him actually opening it face-up. Unrealistic, of course, but you never know! Of course I'm 99.999999% sure that Magnus Carlsen doesn't cheat - after all he's been a chess grandmaster since (14?) and I don't think he would have cheated all the time since then. Besides, so what if he makes super-accurate chess moves? Isn't it normal for grandmasters to do that some times. Thanks for wasting 5 minutes of my time. :D

Because if this was a serious discussion, you'd have started with researching the top players' history, and you'd realise that none of them cheated, but in fact, were prodigies with exceptional talents combined with decades of hard work.

Any discussion about cheating techniques should not be done in the public forums, but in the Cheating Discussion club at https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum.
Despite the statement that this thread "is not accusing Magnus of cheating", many of the responses are clearly suggesting that he is, which is not only disrespectful but potentially defamatory - I have therefore locked this thread.

Look this is gonna be open to a more hypothetical question, and we may not be able to reach a consensus like in the other threads. But bear with me.
So I started watching some chess grandmasters and realize that they don't get their ears checked before a game. So I started thinking, why don't chess grandmasters who are on the low level and not making money, use some sort of device that tells them which moves to play, like a device in their ear. Obviously they would need to be subtle about this, a huge spike in rating would surely be cause for suspicion. So the GM should avoid playing the best moves every time, this way they can climb the ranks in a way that seems natural. It would take some patience but eventually they would be able to crack the top 10 and start raking in the cash.
Then I got thinking... What if Magnus Carlsen has already been doing this? Again, this is all hypothetical, I am not accusing Magnus Carlsen of cheating. But when I watch some of Kingscrusher's videos on him, he seems to make very accurate computer moves sometimes. We've already discussed in the Bobby Fischer thread that Magnus is better because of computers, but this may be taking one step too far I know. But how can we sure?
I don't see players getting tested, like other athletes get tested for steroids. My point is, it wouldn't be crazy if all players in the top 10 were using a device. Just my 2 cents.
