Not a Magnus fan but here's why I don't think he's a disgrace.
He was just playing the most logical decision for the situation. It was certain that he could win in rapid and so didn't need to in classical. Is this disgacefull? No. A team that's 1-0 up playing defensivly isn't; so why would him playing safely be? Both of them aren't the most fun choices but they might be the best.
You might disgree with this argument but I hope you can at least agree it's coherent.
Although it does seem people have made similar arguments and that you are mixing up an incoherent argument with one you disagree with...

This is still ongoing? Is this going to the the 2016 Presidential Election of chess? Endless debates, agonizing discussing, accusations, and stupidity from both sides? My goodness. I leave the World of politics to play chess with rational people, and I find chess politics! Go figure ...
