His ugly comment is too vague to get paranoid and assume that it is a country of origin hater comment. what if Magnus just doesn't look good enough in comparison to the other actors on Vampire Diaries? from certain angles and with the right facial expression, usually a smile, Magnus looks decent. However, when he does the smug, serious model look, he kinda looks like a beat up pug dog. I have zero complaints against Norway here, just saying I can't figure out why he is being used in a show where every actor is supermodel quality in looks. Magnus is a good looking chess player, and that's it as far as looks go.

Carlsen is better than Anand, end of story. It has nothing to do with hate but rather looking at their results against each other (not to mention Carlsen has a higher Elo). Anand is within the Elo range of can sometimes beat him, get some draws, but lose more than win, but not so close as to replicate Kasparov vs. Karpov.
I thought the argument was that magnus is not good looking enough to appear on Vampire diaries. lol
