he wangled a draw lol.
Magnus Carlsen vs. The World Match Starts April 4!
A draw is expected, but kind of boring as a result imo. This is an once in a lifetime opportunity to go for it and try to beat Magnus Carlsen. Maybe a draw is the best we can get and technically speaking it's the right play in this situation, but meh.

This event was disappointing to see a draw when the World could have played with a better position for a win, and they are happy with that result even. This shows how democratically elected actions never result in winning, only a middle of the road stale boring results such as this draw in chess.

It is refreshing to see that the game was healthily imperfect.
Both sides played the opening rather badly, the World team played a positional blunder by castling queenside, permitting a probably winning attack against the king, and Magnus missed the chance to capitalise, preferring to cautiously mirror black's castling. From there the game was characterised by Magnus' small positional advantage (something he time and time again turns into a win against GMs) gradually evaporating, with a draw being the correct result all the way to the repetition of moves.
Magnus is the one who could have won with better exploitation of inaccuracy, and the World should feel very pleased to have shared the point against the best chess player ever.
