I am baffled.
Though I think Alejandro Alvarez hinted at a very plausible explanation:
"(Magnus) is resigning in protest on move 1 ... he knows something that we don't, and this really needs to come to light ..."

The only thing I can guess is Magnus isn't legally allowed to say what he wants to clarify himself. I just hope that he makes an official statement eventually to end this drama lol.
Magnus' poor sportsmanship is throwing the integrity of the tourney in to deep question.
everybody else had/has to play hard, but Hans gets a gimme.
Whoever finished 1 point behind Hans should look at suing Magnus.
Money is at stake here, maybe Magnus doesn't care, but others are not rich like Carlsen.
I'd not invite Magnus to any tournament i was running.

How can he not be legally allowed to say whatever he thinks ? He just want to get washed without getting wet. The proper way is to speak clearly or shut it off, but he isn't ok with either.

FIDE rules? contracts?
It's possible that a FIDE/ACC (Anti-Cheating Committee) investigation is currently underway.
If so, they have 60 days (from the start of the investigation) to complete and deliver their findings.
Which would mean that Carlsen might be waiting until the investigation is finished before saying anything about it (or before playing Hans again).
Why should we keep trying to find excuses for Carlsen's behaviour? Two weeks have passed since the "Niemann affair" started, and he hasn't said a word. He is proving himself an idiot, and that would hold even if he were right.

Well, there's no law that prevents you from accusing without proof, but you'll eventually face consequences. Then, just shut up until you can back up what you think. But again, he wants to somehow accuse without having any problems.
Imo Kasparov is still the highest rated jerk ever, but at least he would always say things up front.

But Kasparov is a lovable jerk. How can you hate a guy who, at the top of his fame, claimed to believe this?
