Magnus true chess strength

sigh...."magnus haters"....
@op, no offense but I don't think you understand chess. if you have an established 650 blitz rating. you are 650! does this mean you will WIN against every 600 player and LOSE against every 700 player?
no, of course not.
but you shouldn't lose (hardly ever) to a 350 rating player.... and magnus doesn't lose hardly ever against a guy 300 points less, either.
magnus is proving his competence RIGHT now--- beating all the 2400/2500's-- in Qtar.
HE plays often, maintains a 2840 (ish) rating- and IS and will be likely for a long while 2840. you paranoid dislike of the World champion doesn't make him any less..
----
it would be interesting to know of magnus games with the Less than super-elite grandmasters....
whats the lowest he has ever lost to. be good to hear actual facts than silly magnus-hatin'.

do you think he is more of a 2400 or 2500 player
I don't know what you're talking about. Are you seriously asking if Magnus is a 2400 player?? Come on - that's just insane!
I say 2550 minimum. MINIMUM. He's probably closer to 2600, or even a little bit above that.

macer, yes, I think thats EXACTLY what he's saying.
alexa is muted, so someone has to insult MC.
its like a commandment to all in chess.com- somehow, someone MUST put down the strongest grandmaster playing today.
it makes us all happier (?) to call him a 2500 patzer...

ah, ok.
an quick search shows that this win against IM Endre Veghe (currently 2200)... wasn't even a bad victory- per wikipedia he was a very weak chess player at 2000 (and only 10 years)- and cleared expert mark in around that time period. this is wikipedia...
"ver the course of this year, Carlsen's rating rose from 904 in June 2000, to 1907. Carlsen's breakthrough occurred in the Norwegian junior teams championship in September 2000, where Carlsen scored 3½/5 against the top junior players of the country, and aperformance rating (PR) of about 2000"
MC is not god- and was not born a world champion at the game. like all other prodigy's he had to get fascinated by the game, and struggle to learn its secrets. by 2004/2005 (14-15), though he was clearly was an impressive competitor- and like other prodigies throughout history- beating world class competitors that had dedicated their lives to chess.
Rant over.

Yes, as we look back on Magnus's career; the early stages. We see that he had a natural talent for spacial recognition. Needless to say he was a well known prodigy at age 9 or 10. Because of this publicity he attracted a well known coach, and probably several others, who enhanced his game with intensive chess instruction. I would go so far to say that Magnus has recieved some of the finest training available. In this regard he has not really had to 'struggle to learn its secrets,' although he worked very hard.

I have had to struggle to learn its secrets. I have to struggle just to live. Magnus had his gifted on a silver platter! I don't complain... But let Magnus set the record straight. He will write a book, yes! ...and make millions of dollars!

thanks for the post Senior long.
how strong is (was) Endre Vegh?...
Just over 2000.
"do you think he is more of a 2400 or 2500 player"
2400 sounds reasonable, that would almost make him top 80 in France or top 30 in Sweden :-)

Don't you think that's a little low? I'm pretty sure Magnus could hold his own against a 10-15 ranked player in Sweden, based on his recent performances.
