Okay, but the point is, if you played Bg4, then there is the appropriate follow-up. If you are going to switch to a completely different plan on the next move then Bg4 is dubious or pointless at best.
Magnus vs World predictions?

I trust GMs and that they know how to play this opening. LOL @ Bg4 dubious move. Come on it's all book and been played thousands of times
The GMs all said that the opening was played horribly. Bg4 and Rfc8? Makes absolutely no sense. Get off your high horse lol. Obviously this was played incorrectly. LOLOLOLOL @ the opening wasn't completely dubious.

Atos what vote chess group are you in? I want to join that group. Man your team must be one of the top 5 here.
Um no vote chess team, I don't have time for that right now.

it's just funny how B players are criticizing world class GMs
I'm not saying that I am better than any of the GMs of course. Just that we voted for different GMs moves on different turns which all had different ideas behind them so we ended up playing a jumbled mess of a plan. If it was just one GM vs. Carlsen it would have been a lot more coherent obviously, but then it we couldn't vote and it would just be GM v GM

I liked the promotion idea to bring chess in the news, came even on the local radio here in France.
What i missed was some info of the GM's why they chose a move, would had been nice if all three had a little textbox where they could inform the voters of their ideas.
I listened also to the video coverage, and they said it also, Three GM's, three ideas and they don't know they given moves of the other two GM's, so when the 'world' had done their move. So they were not only playing against Carlsen but also against the other two GM's.
I also agree that many voters didn't knew what to vote on some moments but felt that they had to vote, something that we call in the regular vote chess games drive by voters. i think that those votes had a lot of influance here.
How it can be done good, i got no clue.
And again, as promotion of the game, i think it was succeeded.

No, but I'm going to buy G-Star apparel for Christmas and I'm keeping my chess.com account.

I predict..
Magnus Carlsen will win..
44 moves..
A queen pawn type of opening
and we will pick Naka the most.

Too bad that there was no tally of non-modifiable answers for the thread's original challenge. Now we cannot accurately determine who was the closest to guessing to what happened.

Will chess.com be annotating the game? I've heard that the World made a key mistake early...and I'm afraid if I read thru the moves I'll miss it...

"G-Star...the chess geek's jeans of choice."
Brilliant marketing strategy.
You know you want it.

With the list of masters that are registered here in chess.com, I would not be surprised if we found a number of submissions under Articles, Daily Columns AND Blogs as early as this weekend.

The voting format did put a dent on long-term chess planning BUT it potentially could have done the same amount of damage to Carlsen as well. He did not know how the world would play at every move, so his original plans could have been scrapped as well and he would have had to rethink his strategy after every move.
If you thought that the GMs had it bad because they would have to adapt after the world voted, Magnus had to be ready for three GM playing styles.
At the end of the day, these match formats were designed for a fun exercise of tactics more than long-term strategy that is part of a serious one-on-one high-level match. Hence, the rapid time control.
