Prediction? Total failure of the software.

I think they may have underpredicted the server load of the event. They will have a better idea next time. I feel bad for Chess.com- this cannot be good publicity considering "Powered by Chess.com" is plastered everywhere on the G-Star site...

I managed to get the audio again... Screen stopped responding but whatever lol.

ColdCoffee

Audio is back, not even going to try to click on video...

Looks like the auto-refresh doesn't work with the audio/video on, but you can just keep on reloading at the right times if you want to hear the commentary.

I mean, you don't want to miss Liv Tyler's interview!

Open two tabs- one with the board and not audio/video, the other with video/audio. Works like a charm for me with no refreshing.

Tried that, it crashed the whole thing... Frown  Maybe everyone tried it at the same time, doubling the server load.

I had the same problem, try my suggestion above, it worked for me.

I honestly feel bad for the 3GM's who are looking like fools being a part of this mess.

Good luck trying to get players of that level wanting to do this again down the road.

I am not so sure. I see this as a big publicity move to put chess out there in the limelight a little more. I may be wrong.

There is song that fits this. "it is a friday night and i just got paid"

Is this going to make you play chess more? Is it going to improve your game so much that you can make a living doing it. Are you going to be a Grand Master in a year? Do you atleast think you can enter a couple of tournaments soon win/dominate them?

I am not sure what your point is. Is participting in this game going to make me a GM overnight? Absolutly not! So what! What does that have to do with anything? Is this about money? Probably. Does that make it bad? Not nessasarily. Will it make me play chess more? Not likely. Is MTV there? Yes. Could it attract new players? I would say maybe. I think this event is here to attract interest to chess among potential new players, plus give current players a chance to participate in a game with chess celebrites(spelling).

Oh, last point. The audio commentary has in fact given me some ideas on how to improve my game.

Magnus is getting to win. Lot of useless move is given in the match leading to Magnus win.

Doesn't it merely flag up the weakness of the Vote Chess as a format?

ColdCoffee

Magnus beat us, dang it I was really hoping....

Man the technical aspect of the show were... suspect but the idea is still fantastic.

Yeah, modulo the technical difficulties, I enjoyed it. I hope they do it again.

onefineham

For all those out there who are kind of crabby that it wasn't a great game I think you missed the point.  It was an exhibition of an old but very fun game being played in a new way with all the world able to watch.

Think of it as a publicity event for the game of chess.  Definitely a good thing.

I gave up after 16 moves or so

I gave up after 11... cxd5.

I know we were losing before the game, but I didn't even want to watch it after that :)
