I'm rooting for Carlsen. In a way I'd be happiest if Ivanchuk won it, but. yeah, I don't see that happening I'm afraid :P Aronian has a good shot, but tbh I don't really see anyone else coming close in the long run.

I dont think Carlsen will win.

TetsuoShima

im also not 100 % sure Aronian will win, maybe he does but i dont know

Scottrf

Don't see a reason to change my initial thoughts of Carlsen.

Im 50/50 Aronian/Carlsen. I'm a bit disappointed watching Magnus play though. I thought he would be a bit more exciting; however, I am really enjoying Aronians play. That, and Aronian has a bit more of a personality. I was watching Carlsen interviewed after his first match with Aronian and he seemed bored or something. His answers were emotionless and to the point. I don't get it....but maybe I do..lack of socialization from an early age? His dad pulled him out of school when he was 8? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Suvel

Aronian is off to a strong start, with a draw against Carlsen as black, but I think the key game to watch is the Round 4 Svilder vs Aronian, where if Aronian wins, he should be able to pull away...

I'm gonna have to say Aronian wins, he's playing really good chess...

Scottrf

Carlsen has an Ivanchuk game in hand over Aronian though.

Suvel

Yeah Carlsen is the highest rated player and I don't see why he should lose this, but I think this strong start from Aronian will help him...

Suvel

Yeah that's also true...

conejiux

Aronian is the best player right now. Carlsen feels a lot of pressure over his shoulders...

Likhit1

Carlsen.

Same for me.

The 8th round (their rematch) promises to be epic, not like what they played on the first round.

Roma60

carlsen looks a strong fav. but aronian and kramnik can up set anyone on there day.plus who remembers last years upset with gelfand.

Suvel

I agree Irontiger...

He has stated previously that he is autistic. This has gone largely unnoticed, because he said it in Norwegian to a Norwegian audience, but anyway:

Q: "Er du autist?" (Are you autistic?)
A: "Ja, er ikke det ganske åpenbart?" (Yes, isn't that quite obvious?)

I'm pretty sure he was joking when he said he was autistic.

I think Carlsen, then possibly Aronian, and Kramnik is in with a shout.  And Svidler. Starting to feel like Dawn French choosing chocolates...

yeah, there is this quote from a norwegian newspaper, where he talks later about this interview:

- At that time, I may not have realized that some people perceived me as autistic. I thought people had seen enough normal parts of me, that this had to be spiteful remarks.
- You wanted to be funny?
- At least I hope people took it in a humourous way.

Yeah, I've heard that suggested too, I'm just not so convinced. One says "autistic" and suddenly everyone's thinking of Rainman and the more common reality doesn't match up.

To me, Carlsen seems pretty Aspie, and reading his father talking about his (Magnus') childhood, it simply seems even more pronounced.

Anyway, all just speculation, but worth bearing in mind as a possibility (that to me seems more likely than him being NT - but your assessment may, and clearly does, vary).
