chess is throwing me off. so far i think i know the pieces for the most part. i pretty much know how they move and when they can, but actually looking at a chess game makes my mind go blank. how do you know what to do and when? how do you know if you're doing anything right at all? i'm purposely slowing down my learning process to make sure that i get every single thing down, but i feel so impatient with it. i just wanna learn (and understand) as soon as possible haha!

play daily chess. do tactics. also do blitz though. play people way better than you. observe how you lose. you'll slowly get better.

Even at my level, I too have impatience and I want to rush learning hoping I can improve faster. It hardly works though. Patience is needed to improve. First, make sure you actually enjoy playing rather then being frustrated on improving. I'd say do a couple tactics everyday to get used to many patterns. Maybe watch some games from higher rated players to see how they maneuver their pieces in the opening and middlegame.

thank you so much all of you! @username333, i will definitely check out that book it could probably help alot. @aluna310 i'm definitely interested in chess, but it's not one of those things you can just dive into and be the best at in 5 minutes. it's a challenge and i like that, but i feel like there's so much more to it haha! and i'll definitely start watching games once i feel like i can maneuver around on my own
