I would like to order a themed chess set (pieces) based on my own design, could some recomend or suggest?

Start with what you like. For example do you like gardening? Then maybe your favorite plants could form the basis of your set.

Thanks, what I am looking for is a company that can manufacure a themed chess set (pieces) based on my own design of a WW1 battle

Sorry about that. Sounds like a great idea. Just out of curiosity what type of material are you looking to have them done in?

Chess Bazaar has a "submit your own design" and we'll build it option,  Of course most of the designs submitted are variations of the Staunton style so I don't know whether they'd do what you want or how outrageous the price would be.  Let me run off and see if I can find the link:

Thanks all. I am thinking of a resin design and I will test the Chess Bazaar. See what they can do and what price. I will let you know how I get on

Here's a thread that might help:

My best advise is to decide what material it is going to be, then contact people who work that material and see what deal you can get from them.

Thanks for the thread and advice, these are very useful. I will investigate further

Let me guess.  Bradshort beat you and didn't give you a rematch?  Laughing I deliberately didn't quote you so you can remove your post and we can all pretend you didn't write it.  Now that you've had the pleasure of venting, why not remove it before a mod sees it?

We've had dozens of threads here on the whole rematch issue.  No one owes you a rematch.  And while it's a losing battle, they are trying to keep the forums "family friendly".

But your opponent is probably already home; that's the difference.  Maybe the phone rang or someone knocked on the door or the cat threw up (again).  Anyway, while the majority in the threads I've read agree that there is no right to a rematch, a vocal minority remain absolutely unconvinced.  We're not going to settle it in this thread either.  Good luck with your games.  Bye.
