Who's Mark Dvoretsky? lol

Its like asking me, who's Mike Tyson is or who's Michael Jordan is or who's Michael Jackson is ...... How can I answer to you?

Read an interview, then help of Google with a Wikipedia should give you some idea of who he is.

ok, it is like asking who dostoevsky is. super famous but not best

Seems to me that Coffee and 420 is conflating practitioners with teachers. Find out who taught Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson and then we can compare those people with Mr. Dvortesky. The old saw "those who can't, teach," is a terrible slam on those who see that the best contribution they can make is using their gift of teaching to raise up gifted students. It's the same in many endeavors. Some of the best writing teachers are just that, teachers with slim bibliographies who see and nurture talent in others. Some of the best coaches were not stars in their sport but have a gift for recognizing and honing talent.

He was the preeminent chess trainer in the world, and author of several highly regarded books aimed at advanced players.

I thought we were in the chess forum, not the boxing forum.

And Mark was certainly not a nobody. He was an important chess trainer and he wrote some important chess books.

I can only conclude that you are trying to intentionally goad people on.

I.e. at least in this case, you are trolling.

Mark Dvoretsky was one of the best chess trainers in the world.

Actually there are certain commonalities between boxing and chess. For example, in both cases you are trying to beat the opponents brains out. wink.png

However, at least after playing chess, you brain recovers "slightly" better than in boxing.

I could just add that it is probably the most renowned chess coach of all time.

Telling this guy is nobody and made nothing productive is so ridiculous (especially in a chess forum) that it is just laughable and sad for CoffeeAnd420 (who probalby didnt find the time to search who was this guy and what he accomplished).

No, I couldn't find the time to look up Mark Doresky. I definitely had something more important to do.

That you would compare this man to people who have actually created, produced, furthered a cause, etc - Is ridiculous.

What if that cause was to create better chess players?

He is best known for a quote during the pre-fight warm-up. When told that his opponent had a plan for winning the boxing match, Tyson replied "Everybody's got a plan... until they get punched in the face."
