Marshall/Manhattan Chess Club, NY

Hi,

Is the Marshall Chess Club in NY, the same as the Manhattan chess club? I am a player from India and I am visiting New York. It would be great to visit the Manhattan chess club. An article on Wikipedia mention that Manhattan chess club has closed. Any other chess clubs in NY that allow casual visits? Thanks in advance!

Yup, the Manhattan CC closed its doors in 2002.

I don't think they are the same.  Looking at wikipedia shows they were founded at different times.  You also might want to visit the chess tables at Washington Square Park.  I'm sure you will find a lot of colorful characters there. :p

There is a Marshall CC open right now in Greenwich Village (Manhattan) their home page news I just looked at was dated Apr 13, 2013. There does not appear to be a Manhattan chess club anymore. 

The Marshall CC and Manhattan CC were 2 different clubs BTW
