I really like the London system , it is not passive as some claim , I am an agressive player thats why I like it
MASSIVE Losing Streak - Help needed!

Yeah I think winning and losing streaks are completely normal and to be expected for what ever reason

In my own chess development, I found that whenever I learned important new concepts... after reading Nimzovich's "My System", for example, and again after reading Kmoch's "Pawn Power in Chess"... my OTB results would suddenly take a nose-dive, losing game after game to simple oversights; and then they would slowly recover until I was scoring better and placing higher than I had ever done before.
I think it takes some time and practice to assimilate the new material and integrate it into your current play-style.
Not sure if this explains your friend's problem, though.

What you just described was extremely insightful and I have personally experienced it many times. I was stuck at around 2100 Fide for almost 2 years, because I constantly implemented new openings & line variations in order to stay competitive, but only after taking some time and, as you so fittingly put it, assimilating the new material into my style, did I actually notice some long awaited improvements.
With regards to dsanchez, I believe he's been playing for almost 20 years now. As I explained in the beginning he absolutely rejects any advanced opening theory and relies on his own expertise in that area.
If you look at some of his games playing white you'll quickly notice that d4, e4 & Nc3 is his bread and butter.
You won't really see any gambits, trap lines etc. but at 2000-2100 I think it's a very solid approach without many risks.
@Bertovski: I am gonna extensively study the London System now. I have studied so many arbitrary gambits like the Marshall, Albin or Traxler etc. it's time to really expand my knowledge of the London and take it to the next level.

Yes well it most definitely is not passive as some say , black has no initiative as commonly stated , not even close , look at the real basics of the structure for eg...bishop on d3 , queen on d1 - h5 diagonal , harry the h pawn ready to rumble , rook behind it , if you do not castle or castle queenside , just one idea , there are of course many ways it can go , you can get a big kingside attack all while enjoying a solid pawn structure , there are a lot of nice traps and attacking plans.
Ginger GM does some great vids on the London , Eric Rosen covers some other ideas , and an Indian fellow forget his name.
I can link some great vids if you want as a starter.

Ha yeah I watched that , that was a bit of humor , Yes I watch vids from both these guys 2 of my favorite GM's , I like Yassers vids too , of course there are some others Akobian , Eric Rosen etc.. but really like these two and Yassers super calm brilliant teaching style

My winning streak ? 19 ,Since I have been playing the London System in the last about 6 weeks or so , It suits my style , I like it solid , and you can play it aggressively if you wish

Are you familiar with Greg Shahade?
Out of all the online Blitz videos, this one illustrates perfectly the process of an online Blitz player, imo it's the best by being incredibly hilarious.

No I have not seen this guy , thanks I will have a look , probably not seen him because I have been searching very specific openings

I think I've slowly shifted towards a preference for gambit openings because I've stopped playing Rapid time controls a while ago, apart from tournaments of course. In 5 & 3min games that's usually what people play.
I think your transition to Blitz would be interesting since you appear to be a London System expert.
I'll check out some of your recent games where you play it, but right now I'm off to the gym.😊

I am no expert by a long shot , but yes I know all the main responses to blacks play against the London , there are 3 main black responses d5 , g6 and c5 , but also the symetricle variation , I know enough to play some good games and to get in trouble lol because I am aggressive I sometimes lose trying to much to attack.
I do know quite a few tricks and traps and various different lines to play depending on what my opponent plays , most players at my rating level do not follow book moves , main lines so I have not been able to use any traps yet

This is an interesting game , not the usual structure you expect from the London , but it is created by following London theory and knowing how to respond to blacks moves.
So on move 3. Nc3 , this is how to respond to g6 , then on move 4 , I play e4 ! because my opponent had not played d5 which he should have , I felt I had the initiative from move 4.
at move 22. pretty much forced , all 5 variations I prepared in the conditional moves were all forced mate , he chose the quickest mate.

And this last game I will show is against a lower rated player , but this is typical of why I like the London , this type of attacking combo at the end and leaving those lines open for the queen and rook , and this is more the conventional or familiar pawn structure and development of the London , the d5 variation , which would be the main line if my opponents would play the rest of the opening
If the problem is the opening, try this opening for white,

or this one for black, its the best for each!

The London System is always great, (when played by Magnus).😏
Have you employed it successfully against stronger players?
