I've tried telling him but he won't listen to me. I also don't think that I'll be able to find it all by myself which is why I appreciate other people's opinions on this.

He is definitely an attacking player like you, but also very cautious, usually. So you agree that the tumbling starts in the opening? The engine doesn't really identify any of his beginning positions as a known opening, so what is he doing there?

and s/t else. why are YOU worried about it ? are u being a sock puppet and its actually you ?

anyway, w/e it is ?....member that chess is pretty much a game of skill and so u (or w/e it is) has had a massive semi-irreversible confidence meltdown. sad.

i strongly suggest taking some time off and quit overthinking e/t. iows, quit taking chess so hellaseriously. If ur playing FIDE master chess ?....and uv been stuck there for 2 yrs ?....then u probably dont have the talent to get to plain-vanilla GM in 200 yrs. face that reality and realize that any light at the end of the tunnel is probably a night train coming to destroy any assemblance of leftover confidence that ur scrambling to gob together.

s/t ppl needta hear the truth as opposed to being handfed cotton candy. sorry (kinda).

So on move 3. Nc3 , this is how to respond to g6 , then on move 4 , I play e4 !

Let's go through them one by one.

First game against the 1700 guy:

From what I have gathered about the London so far, everything appears to be in accordance with theory until 5.f3, why did you play that?

I just watched a video made by kingscrusher where he explains that it is preferable in many cases to leave that diagonal open for the bishop.

Well remember I am an amateur , not an expert , but the reason was at the time just to support e4 , with ideas of maybe castling queenside and pushing g4 a pawn storm , whether thats a good idea or not is another thing , however the engine said Nf3 was best and that move was still a good move.

I am very much experimenting with ideas , Ginger GM in one variation of his own untested above 2400 play , is to play an early f3 - e4 , I had this in the back of my mind too , and just thought the night could re rout to e2 or after g4 push to h3 heading for either the g5 or f4 square.

You are right , I closed off my favorite diagonal in the London , I always play the King night out last if I can so as to keep that diagonal open as long as I can , position dependent.

There will be errors all through my game , I am not at your level of play , but thought you may find those games interesting.

Mostly I have got my Ideas from the Ginger GM vids , a youtube series of three vids

Bertovzki

Ah yes , I have seen that video , and yes exactly what I was meaning , I always keep that diagonal open as long as I can , it often gets blocked quite quickly anyway as you bring out the Nf3 to complete development , most players including GM's will play Nf3 next after Bf4 , in the London you have to be prepared to trade off your dark square bishop for your opponents or for their night as it can be trapped outside the pawn chain their , but if you get it attacked always move it back to g3 so when you take back you open the h file , part of the juicy compensation you get for the bishop , hey I love my bishop pair so it takes some getting used to .

Now there is a Kasparov game where he leaves the bishop on f4 for the night to take and he takes back with the e pawn instead , not common , he won the game , there are many ways to play.

To sum up my overall thinking , yes speedy development and opening lines is often the theme

Bertovzki

And its not to leave the diagonal open for the bishop as you stated , its to keep the diagonal open for the Queen , it prevents Nh5 in all the other variations , but this is the g6 variations , so the night is protected by the g6 pawn so not as important to keep the diagonal open.

That diagonal open can be killer for the h pawn push backed up by the rook on h1 and bishop on d3 queen on d1 , if you open up the h file , all those pieces are very strong
