Considering a dozen of fantastic blogs in the OP's profile I think the only criterion was to get the stylish PNG image from chess.com also known as the achievement

Chess and math are basically comparing cats: one is abstract and applies everywhere while the other is concrete and lives as a big specific world.

 I will list a few criteriae: interest (how much does it interest me), appliance (how well can you apply it to the reap world), monetization (how much money can you make off of it), enjoyment (how much to people enjoy it), investment (how much does it ask for), and popularity (how many people are siding with it).

Interest: math is very interesting to me and I find it fascinating. Maybe it is just me, but this is my opinion. I find lots of cool, useful, and fun things in math. I would give it a 9/10 here. Chess is also very interesting, mainly because it isn't as hard to get into and build on. I give it an 8/10 but it is still very worthwhile for me.

Appliance: math is definitely the most applied thing here. Whether you are baking, coding, building, or engineering, math is very useful and it compares stuff in many ways, leading to physics and many other real life things, earning 10/10. Chess is... a game. You like it or you don't, but either way it is a sacrifice for a game, like any board game. In reality, nobody uses chess anymore for other purposes, hence 1/10.

Monetization: math is monetized from its branches (physics and calculus) and from teaching. Maybe it pays a bit but I would say it is 5/10. Chess gets you money if you (1) spend a lot of time on it and have for years and (2) have lots of time and skill to pour into events. They pay very little, maybe I give this 3/10.

Enjoyment: math is enjoyable for the 20% of people who, like me, are nerds and love everything about it. Chess is easy to enjoy but many people stand neutral, so it gets 5/10 after math's um 2/10.

Investment: math requires only some school, so 3/10, while chess requires independent study, mainly lots of books, courses, coaches, and playing. Math also costs time as well as chess, but chess asks for more of an investment, so it gets a 10/10 for investment.

Popularity: simple - almost everyone hates math except for the 20% nerds like me, and almost everyone somewhat likes chess except for the 20%. Math: 2/10. Chess: 8/10

In all, chess wins in theory but math in reality. I think that chess brings pleasure and satisfaction, making it most people's choice, while math has real application, making it good for a profession.
