There many main checkmates in chess.
The first main checkmate is the Back Rank Mate.The king is on the rank 1 or 8.The king is protected by three pawns.They are the F,G,H pawns but of the kings 8 moves,the pawns cut it to 5 moves.But the 3 back squares are gone the king can only move to 2 squares,the left and the right.
