I play 3-min regularly and I haven't noticed any real change. Most of the games run normally. I don't see an abandonment problem. That's my experience, hope it helps
May 2024 Game Abandonment Getting Worse
I think it gets increasingly less common as you increase in elo, I noticed it much more at 500-600 vs 800-1000, I am sure as you get over 1000 it gets better but I think a lot of people in the lower elos are on secondary accounts or just don't care enough about chess to sit down for serious sessions. Same goes with rematches, almost none at lower elos and slowly increases as you gain elo. Definitely agree with your assessment, tons of abondoned games throughout.
Yep, I'm playing at ~ 900, so I'm just sharing my experience, since he is asking. I haven't seen change at that level. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was happening, as society keeps degrading
True enough, guys - thanks for the input. Yes, seems much better now we are agreed. My current stats as of New Years Eve 2024 show a 5% abandonment rate on all 3 min. Blitz games (which is all I play), and I can see everything as a Diamond member so I'm pretty sure this is accurate. Let's see - that's 1 our of 20 games. Yes, I can live with that.
Update to Previous Post - I rescind what I said earlier about game abandonment getting worse, as over the past six months the situation seems to have vastly improved. As of August 2024, no complaints!
