MCO 15th edition, reading the book

Hello, I was wondering how do I read this table. I'm aware that the sequence under the opening's name is the sequence to reach said position. But I'm confused about the horizontal 1-6 and vertical 4-11. Furthermore, I can only assume that the names above different rowes are the variations. The image is from the 15th edition of MCO. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The horizontal 1-6 are variations.  The 4-11 are moves made from the position reached under the sequence under the opening's name.

So, to play the Kieseritzky, white moves  4. h4 and black responds ... g5. The the fifth move for white 5. Ne5, black responding Nf6. An option for black here is 5. ...Bg7.

Play continues down the column. Set up a board and play the moves down the column and it will be apparent.

Thank you so much for your help! I'll do that right now. Oh and one more thing, so if instead of playing h4, Bc4 is played, then it transition into a Philidor?
