Membership payment problems
Has anybody else had problems with chess.com's membership payment? I had a paid membership for a while and then cancelled it. I was assured it wouldn't renew and no further payments would be taken, but recently discovered I had been billed again.
I was then told it was cancelled and I would be refunded, but no refund was forthcoming.
Looks like chess.com don't cancel standing orders set up on paypal. They create and indefinitely recurring payment and don't cancel it when you cancel membership.
In this way chess.com has taken my money without my approval.
Yes, there are occasional complaints in the forums about billing problems.
I had an auto-renewal I canceled with Paypal and it worked just fine. You have to cancel it on the Paypal site. You can view and cancel auto-payments in "Settings" on the US Paypal. https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/settings/payments (I don't know if it is the same link where you are.)
Posting a complaint here won't get your money back.
You have to write an email to support. The Contact link for billing issues is in the Help menu.

Yes, I've cancelled it now. My main contention is that the onus should be on chess.com to cancel such an agreement (as they set it up) when you cancel membership.
Also, when I explicitly checked with support I was told no further payments would be made. Nothing was said about needing to cancel the paypal agreement myself. (although i shall always check this in future)
I got the yearly premium membership but i was charged 4 times within 2 weeks. Why????
