Message from 1600+ player..No Messages!!

I just wanted to make a formal announcement that I will no longer play chess on this server. From what I've seen on the forum boards, many people have faced an opponent such as my own. He has a lost game and refuses to resign. I asked him politely why he doesn't resign... no answer. I then explained to him the features of the position and why it is losing... no answer. So... if anyone would like a good laugh, you can check out my game history against De-lar, and see how a 1600+ player loses to a 1200+ rated (not strength, rated) who plays the sequence 1. e4  ..e52. Ke2??  You will probably think I cheated with a computer after Ke2, but I really don't care what you people think. I can annotate the game for you and explain the ideas for all the moves. Due to the immature approach that people bring to their chess games and to many of the chess forums, I will complete my game against the above player so he can get his endgame lesson from a 1200 player... then I will bid you all a farewell. It's been real folks, I'm off to play some real chess and treat this game with more respect than the net gives it. Erik, tis a lovely thing you built, but unfortunately the humans have to arrive... ask God, he had the same problem ; ). Take care you chess junkies.

no dont leave. thats jsust one persone. the rest of us arent like that.
erik

sorry to hear that. my recommendation? play with people you know or who have good reputations. i do feel bad that you would let one person push you out of the site. if i avoided any place where somebody offended me, i'd be hiding under my desk. :D

good luck out there - there are tons of humans everywhere!

Is this a joke?  You play 1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 and complain about your opponent not having respect for you?  Then you post about it on the forums just because he doesn't resign, and invite others to have a laugh at his expense.  I wouldnt resign against a 1200 rated player on here either, especially not if they played 2.Ke2, and ESPECIALLY not if they asked me to resign.  It's not a respect issue; it's one of probability.  Asking someone to resign however, definitely IS a respect issue.  It IS rude, unless you have a situation like, you are going on holiday in a few days, have no vacation time left, and need to finish the game quickly.

Mebeme

dont leave, you'll regret it, you can play higher rated people. plz stay :I

Having checked the game, wtf are you going on about!  You arent up a queen or anything.  You are in a rook and pawn endgame and he probably just wants to play it out.  Either this is a joke, or you've been so convinced by all the resignation posts that you've been bottling it up just waiting for an excuse to make your own.  Asking someone to resign in that position is outrageous.  Just play your moves!

I should add after "please resign" you were likely muted, so he only has your rating to go on.

I will take a Fischeresque break from play, and I will hit my training schedule hard. I will bring something beside my comedic experiment of 2. Ke2?? to the table. You'll probably see my random blah blah blah dropped on forums here and there. I'll come back at ya all this holiday season to see how sharp my chess sword is. I've just been playing around as far as OTB stuff goes, but when I come back, I'm really gonna bring it. I look forward to crackin heads and getting knocked on my butt too. Laters.

i just looked at your game, and YOU were the one who played Ke2. What is really sad is that you asked the other guy to resign. .. .

Dear Munchies:

No offense, but you seem like a total douche.  After your Ke2 move, I wouldn't be surprised if you left a Rook hanging next, unless of course somebody does some computer double-checking...  You're a non-paying member - trust me nobody will miss you.  Have fun.

As Willy Wonka said, "Stop.  Don't.  Come back."

i think its a won rook position, as the black king as cut off and white can create a passed b pawn, which wins. But I want to mentions this:

In the corrospendence (how its right spelled) worldchampionchip that Jørn Sloth (danish, and the youngest player ever to become worldchampion in corr. chess), something similar happened. Sloth needed a win in his last game to become worldchampion, and after move 50 he also meant he had a 100 % sure win. But his opponent continued in more than 30 moves (which is a lot in corr. chess), and it costed a lot for "Slothy".
But did he choose to leave the game/tournament/playing corr. chess just because of that? No he didnt, and Ive never heard him being angry about that story (I know him IRL, hes pretty nice, and he once gave me a book on french, ps. i picked the french up because of him, hes a kind of hero for me)

The king cannot help out his queenside pawn without forcing the exchange of rooks. His rook has no attack pivot point. The queenside advantage will win. It is not simple no, but it is a technical win! I didn't ask him to resign either, I simply asked him why he continued to play the position and explained why I feel it is a lost position. BTW, you all take ratings too serious on this site. My profile was created so I could see how long I could play out the insanely bad opening that some other user had put up as a joke opening, the Boungcloud. (sorry for not knowing your handle man, someone please give this person a shout out if you know!). Surprisingly, I survived a few games, and lost one that I played a good shot but missed the strongest continuation and ended up losing since I got upset. My rating is a joke, as is my opening... I was just horsing around. BUT, if you have a lost game, no matter who you are playing, or what opening they played, you should resign a lost game!! Any question of my strength, seperate of my rating, should have been answered by my kingside exchanges that forced the queenside advantage. I didn't even play the cleanest lines either. So I could use some endgame brush up myself.

Loomis

It's laughable to expect black to resign in that position.

If you are actually born in 1979, then this is pretty embarrassing behaviour from you. I actually think that your probably just some kid. Everyone makes a bad call sometimes, acts, as eternal21 says, 'as a total douche'. But it takes character to own up to your mistakes and do the right thing. I've read posts of yours before and thought you were sound enough, however on this one you've got it all wrong.

You people are too easy...really. You are attacking a guy who plays a joke opening with a joke profile. The simplicity of getting you guys riled up. Hahahaha. This is just a simple board game. I was just trying to give De-lar a hard time for Messblock. Ke2 is terrible people, seriously don't play it, it is like stinky shoe, the nastiness just lingers for so long time. Man you guys are great, you make me laugh so hard.

sstteevveenn

I didnt want to comment on whether the position is actually won, since it's an ongoing game.  If you think it's a win though, it should become much clearer in the next few moves.  No you should not resign a lost game.  You should resign, if and only if you want to resign, which is probably because you know your opponent will win.  Like it or not, your rating means that your opponent doesnt know you will win.  Maybe he's not CERTAIN of the theoretical outcome of the position.  Why waste time wondering whether you should resign, when you can spend that time simply making the best move in the position anyway.

K vs K+2B is dead lost, but i would continue to play against most people, all people with a rating like yours, whether it's a true reflection of your ability or not, albeit quickly as I wouldnt really have any decisions to make.  K vs K+N+B is also dead lost, but I would play that out against just about anyone.  Same goes for K+R vs K+Q which I would play out even if i was against a world champion.

So then why on earth would you expect to be taken seriously?

Munchies>>I didn't even play the cleanest lines either

No you're right. The main line of the Bongcloud continues 3.Ke3!!, but you played a less precise continuation.

Bottom line: it's completely rediculous to expect him to act all professional and sportsmanlike, when - by your own admission -  your chess games on this site are for the sole purpose of joking around.

Edit: whole bunch of crossposts here. Didn't see post #17 before I wrote this. Munchies, are you cheater_1's second account?
