Hello. I doubt any of you remember me, since it has been a long while since I was truly active on chess.com.
I just wanted to say that before I leave, I have noticed a trap that many beginners, including myself, have fallen into. Many people warned me about this, but I didn't care (mostly since I was focused more on short term fun than improvement)
If you have looked in the opening discussion forum, you will probably notice it is very active. If you look up chess youtube videos, you will notice there are many openings videos. I feel like openings are made out to be this huge thing, but throughout my chess journey, I have realized openings really don't matter.
PLEASE. If you want to improve, don't look at openings. Look at your mistakes, plans, and endgames. Also, another thing I HEAVILY recommend that you personally review your games before any sort of computer analysis, then compare your analysis with the computers.
Openings are fun, but there is no need to identify with them (coming from someone who claimed to hate 1. ... e5 as black, before realizing it isn't that bad, and also look at my username.)
I know my thoughts are probably very unorganized right now (only have 15 minutes to write), and also some players might disagree with me for this, but I am standing by my opinion.
Bye yall.
