Messaging Not Working

Sort:

For example, if I try and go to @bsan26's profile and press the "compose message" button; nothing happens. Same for if I try to hover over someone's username and press the message button. I have to go into the messages tab to message someone from there.

Hey guys! Yes, we know that our messaging icon isn't working for both Firefox and Edge, however, it works with Google Chrome!- Can you please try that for me!?- We are working on this issue!

Thank you!

I cannot switch to chrome. I use the parental controls with edge.

Thanks for your response.- You are able to configure parental controls on Google Chrome as well. However, if you prefer to use Edge- the other option to send messages is as follows:

1. Copy member's username- or if you already know it (go to step 2)
2. Go to your Messages- and compose- https://www.chess.com/messages/compose
3. Enter the username of the member you are trying to message-
4. Should work swiftly!

I know this isn't the quickest way to send a message, but it works until we get it fixed!

Playing on the computer works fine but I can not play on my phone any longer. Why?

BRENDA

Here is a message from another support agent that posted it!-

If you've been having trouble logging on to the app using your Android device...read this!

...So, it looks like a recent change to the Android software has interfered with the normal log-in process, resulting in a number of our users being locked out of the app. We are so sorry about this frustration and inconvenience!

The good news is that there's no problem with your account if you've been locked out due to this incompatibility, and we hope to have the log-in functioning as expected early in the upcoming week!

But, in the meantime, here are a couple of solutions so you can play while our developers work on a fix.

OPTION A. The best option is to join Chess.com Beta for now, and then download the latest version of the Android app. (You can quit out of the Beta version at any time, but this will allow you to access the app just as you normally would for now…! )

To do this…

1. Navigate to the "GOOGLE PLAY STORE".
2. Locate and click on the button that says "Become a beta tester" (below the developer contact info).
3. Log in to your app using your username and password (NOT Facebook or a third-party log in--if you need help setting up a regular log-in, please write into us at support@chess.com and we'll be happy to help you out…! )
4. Enjoy the app!

OPTION B. Alternatively, if you don't want to join Beta, you can use a mobile browser like Chrome or Firefox on your phone to access Chess.com (although the mobile browser is a little less optimal for phone usage).
