Sounds right to me. =)
minimum for mate

incorrect. K+N+N is NOT a mate (unless your opponent is really stupid and walks into it). other than that, it can't be forced.
others are correct, though. no other mates i know of.
You are incorrect benws. He did not mention anything about forcing a mate, just the minimum required pieces to mate. Make sure you read the first post before responding!

trigs, it's impossible for you to be missing others seeing as you have already covered all the non-pawn pieces.

heh, well i guess if i promoted to a knight and had K+N+N+N that would be one of the options i could be missing ;)

trigs, there no pawn in board you cannot promote anymore ,because he\she said no pawn left in the board ,
thank you

after a pawn promotes to a knight there are no pawns left. K+N+N+N vs K represents a board with no pawns. (is this an argument? i was just joking around)

camdawg7, you know what he meant. he said "make a mate".
i don't want to start an argument.
i did not specify a forced mate or not. in any case, thanks benws. your response was exactly what i was looking for.
what are the minimum combinations for pieces that one requires to make a mate (if there are no pawns left on the board)?
K+Q vs K = mate
K+R vs K = mate
are the easy ones
K+B+B vs K = mate
K+B+N vs K = mate
K+N+N vs K = mate
are these correct? am i missing others? (again, no pawns present)
