Missing the "Play Online" option

Hi,

I used to have an android phone with the chess.com app, and both on the app and on the website, there is a "Play Online" option which starts a gama on the same setting that I played before.

I switched now to iOS, and the only option is the green "Play" button, where I can setup the game, but I don't have that option that starts the same setting that I always use.

Why? Is there a way to add it in iOS?

Hey @hnaveh! 👋

Yeah, this is a bit of a known quirk between the Android and iOS versions of the Chess.com app. On Android, the "Play Online" button conveniently lets you jump straight into your most recent time control/settings, while on iOS, the app funnels you through the green "Play" button, which doesn’t remember your last game type by default.

Unfortunately, there isn’t currently a setting on iOS that lets you add or customise that one-click "Play Online" shortcut like on Android 😕—but you're not the only one who's noticed this difference!

What you can do:

  • Use the green "Play" button to quickly reselect your preferred time control and format. The app usually remembers the last settings used within the same session, but it resets more often than Android does.

  • You might consider submitting feedback through Settings > Report a Bug or Suggestion in the iOS app—if more users request it, there's a better chance Chess.com might bring parity across platforms.

Hope this helps at least explain the "why" a bit! 👍
