It not just the chess players - it's everybody. (Incidentally, I think air travel should be like this; it would be much safer.)

I have the solution:
NUDE TOURNAMENTS!
Everyone strips down naked and then gets a body cavity search before entering the tournament hall. Even coaches and other staff.
unfortunately I don't think this will prevent cheater from cheating. They could still hide a phone in a restroom before the tournament. you just annoy those who are innocent.
it is the same with license code on software those who don't cheat and buy the software has to enter a very long code and those who cheat just start the software with no key.
it is just a annoyance for those who buy it.
On the other hand, maybe this format would be fun. I could hide a Matchbox car up there and see if they find it.

Well, we laughed at first when we heard the anti-terror regulations in airports too.
The label was left on Yelena's account from early a.m 18th September 2010 for about 24 hours.
The account status was then simply changed to closed by chess.com staff, because "she threatened us with a lawsuit we don't want to deal with". Staff have never said that they made a mistake in the account labelling, so I suppose you're left to make your own mind up as to what the state of play is. It's not that difficult to comprehend what's happened really, is it?!
OK, so the players whose name appear under "Caught cheaters" section were not smart enough to threaten chess.com with a trial?
Anyway, right now nobody dares to accuse Dembo, so ... there are no accusations! It's just a rumour floating in the internet. And that image could be photoshopped.

It's not a rumor. Join the cheater's forum group, and read all about it.
Yeah, some anonymous users speaking in some remote and difficult to locate private group of a forum!
http://www.chess.com/groups/home/cheating-forum Not remote, or hard to find at all.
Highest profile cheaters ought to be displayed prominently, like a head on a pike, on the home page for all to see.
But this is business, not a justice site, so no one ought to lose sleep waiting for that. I imagine no one is, in fact.
So all our expectations are being met!
"You are banned from this group."
A private group. Anyway, facts are clear: Dembo is not a cheater. Well, she played some computerized games, but that is the rule for the top players here. You don't think that all of them are cheaters, do you?

Why on earth would you be banned from the group? Anybody can join.
There is no limit to un-objective people. I know you're probably using your mental energies somewhere more important bondocel, like with your job or family, and see the Dembo thing as a means to vent other frustrations without thinking about what you're saying, but you clearly misunderstand the situation. It is obvious Demobo cheated.
Your arguments that stevecollyer might have used a photoshoped picture or that all strong players play computer-like moves aren't even worth commenting on.

He (bondocel) know that, he just feel like saying it.

It's also obvious to me that Feller did cheat, but if nobody can prove that or nobody does want to prove that, it never happened. Do you see it now? Just posting a picture with some account closed for cheating means nothing, mistakes can happen.
So you like it or not, Dembo did not cheat because nobody dares to accuse her of that.
What about Stefan Docx? Who?? You will never find his name on chess.com, he didn't play here. Even though once he was in top 3 :)
Folks, Bondocel is being deliberately ironic here, please stop trying to stop him with facts. He is doing a pretend 1984 style rewrite history style job. Of course he really believes Dembo was guilty etc. His point is that since the public statements/evidence are gone, like in 1984 the novel then the incident never happened. When most cheaters that are banned here get banned their names are written out by chess.com, so like the case Bondocel mentioned of FM Stephan Docx or FM Atlantischess Dimitar whatever his name was it's *almost* like it never happened.
I think that even if cheaters had to pay back all the money won during a tournament, the tournament organization would invite these guys again, as they caused no real harm to them.
Other participants in tournament will never be able to claim any money from cheaters because of not winning a price.
As it was mentioned here before: Cheaters may win a lot, but risk of not being able to win money for some months or years in the future is quite low.
In most leagues, where you play OTB chess, you loose a game if a mobile rings or vibrates. So the rules are very hard. One can only participate if the rules are accepted.
Suggestion: Any team captain (not playing at a board himself) is only allowed to enter the board area, when requested by a player of his team.
Nude tournaments?!? I, for one, don't want to see 99% of chess players nude.
