but it will take time to get used to it
Mouseslips could be solved with a double-tap option.
Double-tapping is actually a really quick gesture. Try it yourself, you’ll see what i mean. It wouldn’t slow you down at any time control. In fact, I would argue that bullet speed is where one would benefit the most since mouse-slips happen so easily there.
But the thing is, if it was added merely as a preference in settings. You could try it out for while, and if it aint your thing just set it back to single tap.
Tonnes of people would solve their mouse-slip problem forever, with double tap option, while those who don’t use the option would be unaffected
I agree with #3 would be good for rapid and blitz but not bullet
Bullet is actually where i would want it the most. Thats where mouseslips happen most. Double-tap is ultra quick. Tap. Tap-Tap. Not much different from single tap, but without the slips. You could always switch the setting back in preferences if you disagree,
but it will take time to get used to it
Anyone who finds it awkward, could easily switch the setting back. I find “tap, tap-tap” to be incredibly intuitive though. You’d be used to it after two games. Then you’d never have a slip again.
Even 0.1 seconds can be valuable in bullet though
Anyone who thinks that is free to use the single tap option. I would still use double -tap for bullet myself, since at those speeds its more likely i drop a piece to the wrong square, and i can double tap pretty fast. I just believe it should be an option. Let the player decide.
There are only two options in preferences.
Drag pieces, or single-tap source square then single-tap destination square.
An option that requires Double-tapping the destination square would solve mouse-slips for good.
