Move confirmation issues

I cannot seem to get my moves to stay on a game board ?....

If I place a move and then leave the page for another website (3 day move game) when i return the move has disappeared ? I make the move again and later the site connection goes down and requests a page refresh....after which my latest move has again gone missing. I must have replaced my missing move a dozen times yesterday and today but it just doesn't stay on the board .?

On the game page in the move record box there are 2x buttons..a green box with a tick and a white box with a x ? there is no explanation of what these are there for but logic suggested to me that it was a move confirmation but it isn't. .. It removes the current game and replaces it with a new empty board and no component ?

This really has to be the most frustrating game site for new members to navigate

If you have Move Confirmation on in Settings> Daily Chess you should get an obvious option to confirm the move. If you don't confirm, and leave the game screen, the move will not be made.

If you don't have that setting on, the move will be made, unless you're in analysis mode

So if I want to have my move stay on the game board until my opponent responds I have to set something in the Settings ....why on earth doesn't it tell you that anywhere on the game board or setting up advice ? what a crazy setup ! surely the default setting should be that when a move is made it is immediately fixed ,unless you are playing a game where take backs are allowed. . This site needs a thorough revision of the basics imho

Are playing the chess.com website in a mobile phone browser? If so, you probably need to scroll down after making the move until you can see the big green tick, which is what actually makes the move. It’s obvious in the mobile app and in a web browser on a desktop, but not so much in the browser on a mobile, which is what you need to use to make a conditional move with your mobile.

apologies for delay in responding. I have just gone back to the game in progress and once again my last move has been removed !.......the move that i have been making for the past 2 days is F1 -C4 I must have made that move over 20 times now ....

There must be some simple setting that I am missing but I don't understand why when playing a game every move is not being registered and fixed (probably the wrong terminology. )

I am playing this game on a Windows 7 PC .here is an image of the current game in question. Can anyone see anything missing or wrong....other than my last move lol.

Ok..... i think I have figured this out for myself.

i just played my move F1-C4 as white and selected the green tick button and immediately the page refreshed and went to another game that hadn't been started yet.

I think this is a standard default on every move and the games are set up so that they automatically show the next game you are playing . If you are only playing a single game then of course the refreshed page goes to a fresh un-started game with no opponent showing.!

Its a silly protocol imo and extremely annoying because now I have to go searching the site to find my current game after every move I make.

just in closing this thread ....I reopened the chess.com tab in my browser and the chess.com site immediately froze my PC and left a message that it had closed down the connection because I previously had opened the site in another device ,(tablet) . My PC was so locked up that I was forced to restore it to a previous backup date and subsequently lost all my saved tabs . Lucky me ....

Windows 7 is super old now and hasn’t been supported by Microsoft for a few years now, which would also mean that whatever internet browser you’re using - Chrome or Internet Explorer or something else? - also won’t be getting the latest updates either, which could lead to some of this glitchy behaviour.
Keeping tabs open isn’t really “saving” them - it’s just keeping them open. If you’re logged in to the browser you should be able to save things as bookmarks / favorites

no its nothing to do with Windows 7 all my other 15 Opera Tabs work perfectly as do all the other World wide forums and Facebook groups . Opera is constantly updated to the latest version whatever version of Windows OS you use.

The issue lies with this website and there seems to be multiple issues

This site closes the connection to all browsers periodically and requires users to re-connect. This might save bandwidth for chess.com but its very annoying to users. Refreshing the connection loses the previous page which means users have to go searching the site for their current game.

By losing tabs in my browser i meant that this site locked up my computer screen forcing me to restore my PC to a previous backup date. In this process Opera deletes all of your your tabs which forces you to search Opera History and restore each individual Tab that you previously had open . Normally opera restores all previously opened Tabs by default when you reopen Opera . Anyway this issue isn't about saving moves by keeping opera tabs open, its about this site having some peculiar illogical processes like switching a page to another game when confirming each and every move of a game. Why ? if a player wants to switch to another game after each move they can do so by choice not as a fixed default .

There's another Daily Chess setting for what to do after making a move. One of them is to Stay on the game.

well I managed to find the setting that Martin mentioned and selected to stay on current game after my move but it still doesn't stay !...... plus I'm still getting constant pop-ups which are annoying I would have thought that as a member I should be able to turn them off ?
