And we are not all big mouths.... just expressing an opinion here, to show how it feels from the opponent's side.... no offense is intended and appreciate none sent my way.

Your point noted. And I never said all are big mouths...

Your comment was left open and it felt like it was aimed at anyone who didn't agree with your opinion.... my advice is never say it in a game and no offence can be taken..... the opponent is doing everything within their right, and if they had time to finish earlier, or if they wanted to finish earlier they would have don't you think? I would never suggest to an opponent are you going to move, or hurry up, or what's the hold up... different if playing with a colleague, friend or associate and you have that sort of a rapport / relationship where it is normal for you to ask each other questions about the chess game or not the chess game... and they would see it as a friendly discussion or even a laugh... but with someone you don't know then it can be seen as you are trying to off balance the opponent or have a go at them, even if this is not your intention Nabeel, this is most likely how it will be seen.

Thanx again for elaborating. Got your point.

When I first started playing at chess.com I got really annoyed by slow-timers and bad sports.  But now I just accept the fact that some people are such bad losers that they will use the maximum time allotted in the hope that you accidentally time-out. For this reason I never play 1 day games, preferring the standard 3 days. I also don't let bad losers annoy me. At the end of the day they're the ones with a problem - not us.

I did not want to write this in my first post. I thought it would be unfriendly. Indeed this is the case. And I hope there are others also who understood the bottom line. Rescue appreciated Carlos_b.

If the games have time controls, there should be no problems with how long it takes your opponent to move regardless of their position on the board.

I hate waitinng for days for my opponent. I just don't have the patience and  I don't see the big appeal in online chess.

Just anyone who disagrees with you.

I don't buy this "it's okay to ask if you're polite" thing.  Is it okay to ask your opponent to resign too?  There's no reason why you should be asking your opponent anything.  If he wants to move faster, he'll move faster.  If he doesn't want to, that's his choice and you have no right to try and influence how he uses his time.  It's nothing more than a distraction and it's just rude.

Hey dude you are Fired and we thought the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSERS' bus had already left.

Nabeel, we get it.  You have no coherent argument so you're just going to spam, in caps.  Classy!

The Bus was quite coherent. Wasn't it? Wink.

I am not sure I understood what you wanted to say. I hope you are not sleeping anyway. It all started with chess. And suddenly the the lava of expertise erupted wherefrom least expected. So instead of just writing "1000000% agreed" or a couple of pharases, had you asked a specific question, I would have directed my reply to you as well.

So just throw it man. I am eagerly waiting.

Hello Nabeel,

I appreciate this post.  It deserves consultation and alot of the comments made have been very good food for thought.  I personally think that each game offers of a chance to grow spiritually and gain virtue.  Just like real life circumstances and incidents and accidents.  Each person that we play are souls, real human beings even though sometimes we do not have to deal with them, except in a digital sense.  We have no idea what is going on in their world other than they have internet, a computer and love chess, as we do.  The little intricacies of tact, eloquence and adeptness at chess, and virtue, shows in our actions, words, and deeds.  Just because we play chess does not make someone a gentleman, a lady or a better person, even though it has the potential.  Some lose by luck, some by skill, some by time, and some beat us.  I was scolded by my spouse today for playing too much chess, the other day my daughter made a move for me and it was a blunder, and I made three people resign because they knew it was over.  This is another tool to serve our lives and to help us appreciate and deal with real life better, but in the end it comes down to us making the choice.  Same as each interaction with each individual, and most of the time, those who act the worse, simply need the most love and example of how to act, and they push buttons, begging for a real, genuine, consistent, example.  We can not talk about certain things on here so I will end here, but all goes back to the source, which is our example of what to be and what is right and wrong, and socially acceptable, the norm.  This is different in each of our countries as well but the same for our species.  None of us possess or own virtues even though we think that we do.  It is but a reflection of the original source, an image or likeness.

Much Love,

Paladon

P.S. Chess_kebabs - we could use a Druid in our group Army of Lyte. Interested?

I would never accept an admission of ignorance in public to the Queen of Stalemates.  How about we discuss the nomenclature of a Druid, or what most people call in these days, an Environmental Steward, someone who has gone green and all of the other nice slang terms, over a game of Chess, M'Lady?

Fair enough.  See you soon....  En guard :)

In a game that I played with a much high ranked player where I thought he had made a specific mistake and I dared to share it with him with my excuses. I told him that in three moves he will have to lose his queen after that wrong move and if he tried to save his queen he would get a Check-Mate in two moves,

I can't help but think you are bringing this situation upon yourself.  If someone was to tell me "I'm taking your queen in 3 moves" I'd make sure I looked at every possible way out of it.

I would not let it bother you.

its hard to know whats going on with your opponent. right now for example I have a bad flu w/ a headache and am trying not to mess up any of my games. a person may be just on to coach someone else, or simply have the computer screen up but not be actually "on"
