Move Suggestions

Why does Chess.com offer move suggestions?
justbefair

They are only offered in bot games, as an aid to new players.

The games are not rated.

cstratton299
I’m probably using the wrong term. I’m referring to the move options that accompany regular rated games with other players.
cstratton299
These suggested move options appear after the name of the opening appears. They come with percentage ratings. I assume they are for educational purposes?
cstratton299
I think they are “book moves.” They appear when you select the book icon on the bottom left side of the game. I refer to them, but they make me feel like I’m cheating.

I think those appear after a game.

Do you have a screenshot?

I’m an old man; screen shots are above my pay grade. On your smart phone, tap the magnifying glass icon in the center bottom of the board. Then tap the book icon on the left bottom. Move suggestions will appear as the game begins, until the players are out of book.

Well I have never seen that available in live chess.

Are you talking about daily chess? (24 hours per move and up.)

You are allowed to consult books and databases in daily chess

cstratton299
Yes, daily chess, not live games. Sorry, I should have stipulated that. Still, it seems to disincentivize rather than enhance the learning process, particularly with regard to openings.
