Hi.

Chess box is seeming to get more and more popular.

Wouldn't it be possible to do something like this with MtG and chess? Any suggestions how? Just wanted to get your opinion

Do you mean "chess boxing"?

And is MtG short for something like "Magic the Gathering"? Isn't that a card game?

I doubt it.I think the draw with chessboxing is that it adds a physical element to the game. Putting chess together with a card game won't really have an effect like that.

There is no way making good combination of chess and a card game if you want it to be fair and keep the same base as in regular chess (meaning you could compete in it fairly without RNG Bu****it and the outcome depending only on which is the better player). But there is an entertaining variation made by Steve Jackson Games called Knightmare chess. It adds to a regular chess set a deck of cards which can for example alter the ways pieces move for one move or longer, create completely new pieces or force opponent to make another move or alter the board by ''removing'' all empty outermost ranks and files or flip the board 90 degrees so that pawns promoto on a different side of the board than before and so on and so on...

It is really fun in my oppinion.
