I understand what you are saying, but the game ended. The king does not "Die" in this game. When the "King" has no options due to outcomes. The game ends.
You wouldn't, and couldn't move a piece just to block one of those "Checks", then look at me and say "There, now it's Check Mate". It just doesnt work like that. Ever. When the game ends, the game ends.
Don't be mad that you have not done something like this yet...

I think the idea of a double checkmate stems from the double attack. Slightly more sophisticated than the double attack is the double check and discovered check. Combine those two and you get a discovered double check. If that happens to be mate, you would have a discovered double checkmate, because the king is in check by two pieces, even though he's not in mate by two pieces.

I was so excited that I got her in a double check mate. I was even more excited for her! She was new to chess. Sadly... She was not as excited as me... ) :
