My favorite Alexey Shirov vs Caro-Kann games

I decided not to post the analysis of the games, but I think they are just so interesting and fun to analyze, that you, yourself may be interested in analyzing it, and perhaps post some explanation for Shirov being Shirov...whether he lost or not!

Sorry to say that the Shirov variation of the Caro Kann (3.e5 Bf5 4.Nc3 e6 5.g4) is dead as a winning try since almost a decade ago. Black has a couple of known ways to complete equality.

You have to distinguish between "equal" and "Carlsen-equal". :-D

Rightfully so. Kings are fighting pieces in the endgame. Cool

On a sidenote, i just have to say, these were my favorite games vs the caro-kann Laughing

That was my intention of this thread. Opening analysis...is simply useless really, given the time period though, putting it into context...well this was the main variation a lot of people were playing.
